Oman date of independence was in the year 1960.
The Sultanate of Oman, formerly Muscat & Oman, occupies the south-eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula. Oman adopted the present name in 1970.
The Kuria Muria Islands, formerly part of Aden, were given to Oman by the British in 1967.
