This reserve is located on the register of national estate due to its cultural and archaeological features. There was evidence of Aboriginal activity which dates back to 17,000 years. Service men have lost their lives in the year 1943. There is natural flora and fauna in the region. Wodi Wodi tribe used to inhabit the area. Bass point reserve is located to the south of Wollongong known as Shell Harbour.
